Current facilities at the University of Experimental ResearchTechnolog are considered to be an area of heritage for the historical value that they preserve for the province of Imbabura and Ecuador. Various infrastructures date back to mid-17th century (1671). The Villa, a place that was inhabited by Juan José Flores, first President of Ecuador, is the formal home of the University. Current student residences, in the past, housed the Zafreros. At the Ingenio San Jose cane sugar, brown sugar and liquor were processed, but after the restoration, it is promoted as the most complete library in the country.
