Yachay Public Company and multinational company Indra signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the creation of a software factory and an innovation center in Yachay, City of Knowledge.
The signing of the agreement took place at the Innopolis Center for Entrepreneurship, Yachay, City of Knowledge in Urcuquí, on February 6, between the Yachay Public Company CEO Hector Rodriguez and Indra CEO Francisco Regidor, in Ecuador.
This partnership between the public and private sectors will enable the coordination of actions to promote cooperation in R + D + i and knowledge transfer.
“We want Yachay to be a space where many participants converge. We want Indra to grow, consolidate and solidify their stay in the City of Knowledge in the long term,” said Hector Rodriguez.
Yachay Public Company will cover basic infrastructure investment, while Indra will invest in research, production and manufacturing software, which aims to invest at least 6% of total regional sales in this new space in Yachay City.
Among the projects Indra will implement in Yachay City, there is software that improves and synchronizes the air traffic, automates land transport systems and manages the telepresence in the health sector.
Indra company will have a business orientation that will give power and sustainability in the long term. This agreement will ensure that this foreign investment is maintained over time, to generate employment, higher income of foreign exchange, exportation of high value products added and economic growth.
“Our commitment is to offer a space in Yachay with highly profitable investment in research, development and innovation. One dollar with 250% return is a good investment, “said Rodriguez.
The director of Indra in Ecuador, Francisco Regidor, said that “the interest of Indra to settle in Yachay, City of Knowledge based on its commitment to innovation and talent, and their willingness to collaborate with one of the most important initiatives of the innovation ecosystem that is being promoted in the region “.
He also explained that “the management model and open innovation Indra shares the goal of the City of Knowledge to foster interactions between the university, the public sector and the private sector.”
