Yachay Public Company and The Edge Group representatives of USA’s Singularity University, are calling for Ecuadorians with innovative ideas that will impact the lives of at least one million Ecuadorians in the next five years, through an unprecedented competition. The Global Impact Competition (GIC) is a competition that seeks to generate a positive impact on the world, where candidates compete for the prize of attending the summer program at Singularity University called the Graduate School Program (GSP).
“We want the public to get involved in generating knowledge and technologies that will empower citizens for knowledge, the new productive matrix of Ecuador” Fernando Cornejo, Technical Manager Yachay Public Company said.
This competition takes place in different parts of the world with around 5,000 applicants, but the limit is for 80 participants, and in this competition the quota for an Ecuadorian with the best project is guaranteed.
“We believe small teams of entrepreneurs can make a difference in leveraged projects involving new technologies,” said Jose Antonio Torres, Ambassador of Singularity University.
The winner of GIC will attend the GSP program where they will have the opportunity to learn a variety of acceleration technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Energy and Environment Systems, Medicine and Neuroscience, Nanotechnology and Digital Fabrication, Computer Networks and Systems and Space and Physical sciences. In addition, there will be study sessions addressing major global challenges such as water, health, energy, environment, poverty, nutrition, safety and education. Then they will have the task of resolving at least one exponential technologies leveraging challenge.
