“Interesting and impressive. When the project is completed, it will be something spectacular”, were the words of Edwin Chávez, the representative of Siemens in Ecuador, hearing the description of the City of Knowledge made by Héctor Rodríguez the CEO of Yachay Public Company.
Chavez said the Yachay Project has attracted worldwide interest and Siemens wants to participate in the generation of critical mass of engineers and scientists in Ecuador to help develop technology for the country itself, which can be exportable and usable by the Siemens company.
Héctor Rodríguez said the visit highlighted the importance of partnerships with global leaders projecting success, and indicated that the Yachay Project has a Master Plan which suggests that there will be 180,000 inhabitants of the City of Knowledge by 2045.
Rodríguez said the City of Knowledge will be the engine of the Ecuadorian economy. In this regard, he recalled the importance of Yachay as a ZEDE (Special Economic Development Zone), which has tax incentives in order to strengthen the productive development allowing for the establishment of new investments.
