In Quito, on the 24th and 25th of January, the International Conference on Neurodegenerative, Motor and Cognitive Diseases was held featuring internationally renowned speakers from the United States, Chile, Scotland, Cuba and Ecuador.
This academic event was organized by the Yachay Public Company, the Prometeo Program and the World Federation of Neurology.
It allowed for analyzing trends of these diseases including epidemiology, genetics and clinical trials; for strengthening the neuroscience forum through the presentation of worldwide results; and for the analysis of the development of this topic of research in the region.
Juan Carlos Moreno, Manager of Education, Science and Technology Yachay Public Company noted the coordinated work of the organizers. “Yachay Public Company works in the spreading of scientific knowledge as well as the formation and articulation of national and international research networks related to strategic issues such as the area of health,” he said.
Experts like: Kevin Horton, Lorene Nelson, Carlos Llumiguano, Orla Hardiman, Miriam Bucheli, among others, shared their knowledge, experiences and their results obtained from research in this discipline, with professionals and students linked to this area of study and research.
“For us it is very important to participate in health issues that have not previously been addressed in the country. Ecuador has created an institutional infrastructure that is related to health research, which has been led by Senescyt, Yachay and Ikiam “said Tatiana Villacrés, delegate of the Ministry of Public Health.
This academic meeting will also provide information to the Ministry of Health, which will allow the formulation of public policies and incentives for further investigations. (SA-VE / YACHAY EP)
